Betnovate scalp application is a topical corticosteroid. It contains betamethasone valerate, which works to reduce swelling and irritation in the scalp caused by conditions such as psoriasis and dermatitis.
Do not apply Betnovate if you are allergic to betamethason valerate or any of its other ingredients, if you have a skin infection on your scalp or for children under 1 year.
Consult your doctor if you have previously faced allergies using another steroid, are applying the liquid to broken skin or to a large surface area. Inform your doctor of any other medication you are on currently or if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to get pregnant.
A few commn side effects of using Betnovate scalp application include a feeling or burning, pain, irritation or itching where the liquid is applied.
If you experience more severe side effects such as rash, bumpy skin, increase in hair loss, cloudy lens in the eyes, high blood pressure or increased blood sugar levels, contact your doctor immediately.
Always use the medicine exactly as the doctor has prescribed.
Initially, you must apply Betnovate scalp application in the morning and night, which might reduce as your condition gets better.
Wash your hands before application, cover the affected area with a thin layer of liquid. Your scalp will feel cool till it dries.
Avoid getting the liquid in your eyes. If you are washing your hair, it should be dried before applying the liquid. Do not use a hair dryer once you have applied Betnovate.
Do not use it more often than is prescribed or for a long time unless you are instructed by your doctor. If you forget to apply Betnovate, apply it when you remember or wait till the next scheduled dose.
