Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic, widely used to cure bacterial infections. It contains the active ingredient ciprofloxacin hydrochloride, and is suitable for adults, children and adolescents. It is commonly used to treat conditions such as infective diarrhoea, typhoid fever, bronchitis, gonorrhoea, infected ulcers, cystitis etc.
Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, have kidney problems, epilepsy, muscle weakness or a history of abnormal heart rhythms. You must inform your doctor if you are taking any medication at the time.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to get pregnant, you should avoid this medicine.
Ciprofloxacin may cause certain side effects, such as ;
Dizziness
Vomiting
Nausea sensation
Diarrhoea
Possible joint pains in children.
If you experience side effects such as a severe allergic reactions causing difficulty in breathing or dizziness, rapid swelling of the mouth, lips or tongue, or if you experience skin rashes, or liver failure, stop the medicine and seek medical help immediately.
You must take ciprofloxacin as prescribed by your doctor.
The dose is decided based on the condition you are being treated for, with treatment lasting between 1 day and 6 months.
Swallow the tablet whole with plenty of water, around the same time every day. You can take it at mealtimes or in between. Do not take this medicine with dairy products.
If you have taken more than the normal dose, consult your doctor immediately. If you have forgotten your dose, then take it when your next dose is due. In any case, do not take a double dose.
