Testim is advised to men who do not produce sufficient level of natural testosterone. This condition is called as hypogonadism. Testosterone is responsible for the production of sperms, development of male sexual characteristics as well as for normal sexual function or sex drive. It also helps maintain the size and strength of the muscles.

The Testim Gel is advised to treat various other health problems in men due to lack of testosterone. These include:
- Impotence
- Infertility
- Low sex drive
- Depression
- Bone loss

NEVER use Testim gel on males under 18 years of age. Keep AWAY from contact with women and children. Use Testim gel exactly as advised by the doctor. Testim gel is for transdermal use and thus, needs to be applied on the shoulders and or upper/arms. Each 5g tube of Testim gel contains 50mg of testosterone. The usual dose is application of one tube of gel every day. Some may require a higher dose and thus are required to apply two tubes every day. The correct dose is decided after testing the levels of testosterone in the body.

Apply Testim gel only to healthy, normal skin. Never apply it to the genitals or broken skin, damaged skin, open wounds or irritations. Apply the gel exactly at the same time each day preferably in the morning.

The contents of the tube of gel should be applied to the shoulders and/or upper arms every morning. If you take a bath or shower, apply the gel after the bath or shower. Pierce the end of the tube with the top part of the cap. Empty the contents into your palm and apply Testim gel on your shoulders and/or upper arms as a thin layer.

Use a circular motion to rub the gel in to the skin for several seconds. Continue till there is no gel left on the skin area. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. This will prevent spreading of the gel to others after application.

Let the gel dry for a few minutes before you wear clothes. Wait for about 6 hours before you go swimming or take a shower.

In order to prevent the transfer of gel to other people, wash your hands thoroughly. Wear clothes after the gel has dried. Before you have a close skin-to-skin contact with anyone make sure you have covered the area with clothes or taken a bath.

If someone does come in contact with the gel, immediately ask them to wash the area with soap and water. The longer the gel stays on their skin, the greater chances of them absorbing testosterone.

Testim gel belongs to a group of medications called as androgens. It helps treat men with testosterone deficiency.
