Trimovate has three different medicines namely calcium oxytetracycline, clobetasone butyrate and nystatin. Clobetasone butyrate comes under a class of medicines called Steroids. They reduce swelling and irritation. Calcium oxytetracycline and nystatin are medicines used to fight bacterial and fungal infections of the skin.
Trimovate helps reduce redness and itchiness of certain skin problems like eczema, nappy rash and dermatitis.
Do not use the ointment if;
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients of the ointment.
- You are suffering from any skin problems like acne, fungal infections, viral infections or blisters. Trimovate could make them worse.
- You are suffering from any fungal infections like athletes foot or ringworm
Take special care if you are applying to a child. Make sure you tell the doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant before taking the medication.

Like all other medicines, Trimovate has some side effects which are very common. Stop using the ointment in case you find your skin problem getting worse or if you find your skin swelling during the treatment. Consult the doctor in case any of the side effects gets serious. Some of the skin problems are:
- Redness of the skin
- Rashes
- Itching
- A feeling of the skin burning
- Changes in skin color
- Increased hair growth
- Thinning of the skin
Trimovate must be used exactly as prescribed by the doctor. This cream is strictly applied to face only for four times. It must not be used more than the prescribed amount. Also, it must not be used on large areas of the body unless told by the doctor. Always clean the skin and wash your hands before applying the ointment. If your skin problem doesn’t improve after seven days, consult your doctor. Run the cream gentle on the skin until the cream disappears. Measure the amount of cream to be sued with your fingertip. Unless the doctor has asked you to apply on your hands to treat them, wash your hands after using the ointment. The smaller the child the less amount of ointment is needed. The ointment must not be used for too long as the skin on the face thins easily. Do not let the cream get into the eyes. In case you forget to apply the cream, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for next dose, wait until the time when it is meant to be applied. If you apply a lot more than required, then visit your doctor immediately. Make sure you talk to the doctor before stopping the ointment. The ointment should be kept away from children and adolescents.
