Dalacin T is available as topical solution and lotion which contains a tetracycline antibiotic called clindamycin phosphate. It is used to treat infections that are associated with acne vulgaris, the bacteria that cause skin acne. Do not apply Dalacin T is you are allergic to clindamycin or any other ingredients present in the solution or lotion. Inform the GP about the allergy before the medicine is prescribed. Dalacin T should be strictly avoided if you are already taking any other acne treatment, especially with benzoyl peroxide. Inform the GP about the previous treatment history before he recommends Dalacin T to you. In case of women, if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby, seek advice from your GP before using Dalacin T. In case you are breast feeding, you should inform your GP up front as the active substance may be passed to the baby through the milk. Dalacin T should not be used in case of skin irritation or if the skin is broken. You should avoid smoking while using this medicine or using it in front of fire since Dalacin T solution is flammable. You should always avoid using this medicine around sensitive areas like your eyes and mouth. In addition, Dalacin T should not be used if you are taking any medicines with Vitamin K antagonists such as warfarin, acenocoumarol and fluindione. Stop the use of the medication as soon as you observe any side effects like skin irritation, burning sensation and diarrhoea. Under such circumstances, consult the GP as soon as possible.
People allergic to clindamycin or any of its ingredients should avoid using this cream as it may result in some common side effects. Dalacin T solution has alcohol which may cause skin irritation and burning sensation in some individuals. In addition, other ingredients like propylene glycol and cetostearyl alcohol may cause skin irritation or local skin reaction. In case you observe any skin rashes, itching, redness or other sign or irritation not present before using this medicine, you should stop the use of the medicine and contact your GP immediately. In addition, inform your GP immediately in case you develop diarrhoea. Some people develop bowel inflammation after a treatment with antibiotics, which may result in severe and bloody diarrhoea. Other common side effects include: ● Oily skin ● Skin irritation ● Burning sensation ● Hives ● Itching ● Peeling Some people may also experience severe acne, gastrointestinal disturbance, skin inflammation, stomach pain and stinging sensation in the eye after using the cream. Under such circumstances, you are recommended to stop the use of the medication and consult the doctor immediately.
Dalacin T should always be applied exactly as told by the GP or pharmacist. In case of any confusion, consult them before applying the lotion of the solution. Ideally, Dalacin T should be applied for not more than twice daily. Apply a thin layer of the lotion or the solution to the over thoroughly washed affected area. Make sure to shake the bottle of the medicine before use. The Dalacin T solution bottle has an automatic dispenser. Apply a thin layer of the solution over the affected skin using the pad on the applicator. The Dalacin T lotion has a dispensing cap. Apply a thin layer of the lotion to the affected area using a cotton pad or fingers. However, make sure to wash your hands before and after application of the lotion. Replace the cap after use. It is completely okay if you miss to apply the solution or lotion at one or two occasions. Just apply it as soon as you remember. Do not abruptly stop the use of the medication as soon as you start to witness improvement in acne. Consult your GP before taking any action.
Dalacin T works by preventing the acne-causing bacteria from producing proteins that are essential for their growth. This work is carried out by the active ingredient and antibiotic present in Dalacin T, clindamycin. The absence of essential proteins prevents the bacteria from replicating, and increasing in numbers. The bacteria eventually die and are eliminated by the immune system. Clindamycin works on bacteria that feed on sebum produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin. These bacteria produce waste and fatty acids that irritate the sebaceous glands that causes inflammation and spots. Clindamycin helps control inflammation and allows the skin to heal. Dalacin should be stored at temperature not more than 25 degrees Celsius. It should be kept in a dark place away from light, flame and out of reach of the children. Do check the expiry date of the medicine before applying it for the first time.
