Clenil Modulite is a pressurised solution which helps to prevent Asthma. It belongs to a group of medicines called steroids. The inhaler works by reducing swelling and irritation in the walls of the lungs, it doesn't help treat sudden attacks of breathlessness. It is available in four strengths.
Do not take Clenil Modulite if you are allergic to any of its ingredients or any other medicines that treat asthma. Make sure to tell your doctor if you are or were under any kind of medication and if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant. Each puff of Clenil Modulite contains at least 9mg of ethanol.
Clenil Modulite causes certain side effects, although not everybody experiences them. It is best to stop using the inhaler in case you experience shortness of breath or a cough straight after using the inhaler. In such cases, it is recommended to use a quick-active reliever immediately.
Some of the common side effects include; - Allergic reactions - Thrush in the mouth and throat - Hoarse voice, Sore throat and tongue - Changes in the normal production of steroids - Reduced growth in children - Decrease in bone mineral density - Insomnia, depression - Nausea - Headache - Loss of appetite - Fatigue, weight loss - Convulsions
Clenil Modulite is available in four different strengths some of which are not recommended for children. The inhaler must be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor and should not be stopped abruptly unless instructed.The starting dosage depends on how severe your condition is.
A device called volumetric spacer should always be used when; - Adults, the elderly or children above 16 years of age are taking daily doses of 1000 micrograms or more - When the inhaler is used for children below 15 years of age.
It usually takes a few days for the medicine to work. It is very important that the medicine is used every day.
In case you use more Clenil Modulite than required, inform your doctor immediately as the cortisol levels in your body will need to be checked. If you miss a dose, take it immediately when you remember it. If it is time for the next scheduled dose, skip the dose missed.
Clenil Modulite contains Beclometasone, which is a corticosteroid. These steroids control inflammatory responses by inhibiting the production of chemicals that are involved in causing allergic reactions causing inflammation. It reduces the swelling and irritation in air passages and lungs, easing breathing problems.
