Ezetrol belongs to cholesterol absorption inhibitors group of medications. It helps reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood along with lifestyle changes, exercise, diet, and weight loss.
Ezetrol should not be taken if one is allergic to ezetimibe or any other ingredient of the medicine. Those with liver problems should avoid Ezetrol. Pregnant and breast-feeding should never take ezetrol with statin. However, there are no reports on taking Ezetrol without statin when pregnant or breast-feeding. Thus, speak to your doctor on this regards when pregnant or breast-feeding.
Children and adolescents between the age group of 6 to 17 years should never be given this medication. They should be given this medication only under expert medical advice. Never give children under the age of 6 years Ezetrol.
Inform you doctor about other medications you are currently taking. These medicines include prescription drugs, herbal medications, over-the counter drugs as well as vitamin supplements. If you are taking medication(s) with any of the below active ingredients:

Ezetrol may lead to side effects. However, these side effects are not observed in everyone who takes this medication.
When Ezetrol is taken alone, the following common side effects are seen:
● Diarrhea
● Abdominal pain
● Feeling tired/fatigue
● Flatulence
Some of the uncommon side effects of Ezetrol when taken alone include:
● Muscle spasms
● Decreased appetite

When Ezetrol is used with statin, the common side effects include:

● Hives
● Tingling sensation

Ezetrol should be taken exactly as prescribed by the doctor. The tablet should be swallowed with a glass of water. You can take the medicine with or without food. Make sure you take dose at the same time daily. You can take other cholesterol-lowering medications unless your physician tells you to stop taking them along with Ezetrol. Before you start taking this medicine, you should follow a strict diet to reduce your cholesterol levels. If your physician has prescribed this medicine along with statin, you can take both the medicines at the same time. If your doctor has prescribed this medicine along with other medicines which have colestyramine or bile acid sequestrant as active ingredient, take Ezetrol atleast four hours after or two hours before taking other medicines. One needs to take 10mg Ezetrol tablet by mouth once a day. If the doctor has prescribed statin, you can take both tablets together at the same time. Do not take this medicine if you are suffering from liver problems or if you are pregnant. The medicine is also not recommended for women who are breast feeding. The tablets contain lactose, a form of sugar. If you are intolerant with sugar, talk to your doctor before taking the medicine.
