The active ingredient of pantoprazole tablets is pantoprazole, containing 20 mg of it in each tablet. Anhydrous sodium carbonate, crospovidone, calcium stearate, mannitol, and hydroxypropyl cellulose are its other ingredients. Coating consists of sodium laurilsulfate, polysorbate, yellow iron oxide, hypromellose, methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate co-polymer dispersion 30% and triethyl citrate. Taking Adizem XL should be avoided in case you are allergic to the aforementioned ingredients of the capsule, or have severe liver problems. Doctor’s instructions must be strictly followed while taking pantoprazole. The tablets are to be taken one hour before a meal, without breaking it or chewing it. They have to be swallowed with a glass of water. The usual starting dose in adults is one tablet every day. At this dosage, relief can be felt normally within 2-4 weeks. Doctor’s advice may be sought on how long the medicine may be continued. The same dose can be used to treat symptoms associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, for managing reflux oesophagitis for long-term and preventing its return and also to prevent ulcers in patients who take NSAIDs continuously. In the case of an accidental overdose, the doctor may be informed. No symptoms of overdose are known. If a dose is missed, never take a double dose, to fill the missed dose. Do not stop taking the medicine without informing your doctor.

This condition can be treated by this drug by reducing acid produced. Another condition, Reflux oesophagitis is characterized by the inflammation of oesophagus that is accompanied by the regurgitation of stomach acid. Pantoprazole can be used for the long-term management of this condition.
