Singulair 10 mg tablet carries an active substance called montelukast, which is a type of leukotriene receptor antagonist. It works by blocking substances called leukotrienes that cause narrowing and swelling of the airways in the lungs. These substances also trigger the occurrence of other symptoms related to allergies such as stuffy, runny, itchy nose, red, swollen, watery eyes. In asthma attacks, the leukotrienes gain control of your respiratory system and lead to problems like wheezing, coughing and chest tightening. Even in seasonal allergic rhinitis, the airways are congested with leukotrienes that results in difficulty in breathing. The tablet fights against these leukotrienes and keeps your respiratory system in shape. The medicine should be stored properly, away from light and moisture. Keep it out of the sight and reach of children. Ensure to check the expiry date and do not use it after the printed date on the blister pack.
