Spedra is used for treating impotence or erectile dysfunction, which is characterized by the penis not getting hard enough to be suitable for sexual activity. The active ingredient of Spedra is a ‘phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor’, known as ‘avanafil’. It relaxes the blood vessels in the penis, which in turn increases the blood flow to it. Increased blood flow helps in keeping the penis erect and hard to make it suitable for having intercourse. However, this medicine does not cure the condition and sexual stimulation by engaging in foreplay is a must for erection.
